Founded by Wonnarua woman Dr Amanda Healy and co-owned by Maroomba Airlines’ Michael Evans and Phil Garcia, Altura Airlines will draw on Maroomba’s existing fleet of Dash 8-100, Dash 8-300 and Dash 8-400 aircraft, with plans for an A320 in operation under its own banner by 2027.

Boeing and Airbus will put their rivalry aside for the closing session of the 2026 Australian Aviation Summit, arguing that decarbonisation, workforce shortages, and supply chain pressures now demand industry-wide co-operation.

The Australian and International Pilots’ Association has filed a protected action ballot order, with pilots set to vote between 27 July and 3 August. Potential actions include bans on work duties outside stipulated duty hours, delays to sign-on times, and outright work stoppages.

In its Australian Aviation Network Overview report for June 2026, Airservices found that total network passenger flights were up 1.5 per cent and volumes up 2.7 per cent over FY25, with industry performance and Airservices’ own performance also improving.
